Itinerary Details
- After arriving & visa formalities and collection of baggage, you will be welcomed by our tour representative who will be your tour guide during your entire trip in Bhutan.
- Depending on the arrival time of the flight the city tour of Thimphu before check-in will happen from below options
- Tachogang Lhakhang is located in Paro district, on the way to Thimphu. It was founded by ThangthongGyelpo after he experienced a vision of Guru Rinpoche, Amitabha, and Avalokiteshvara near the site. The caretakers today are said to be descendants of ThangtongGyelpo. Inside the temple, one can see the master’s relics, including his walking stick.
- National Memorial Chorten —–The National Memorial was built in a memorial of Bhutan’s third king, H.M. Jigme Dorji Wangchuck who is also known as the “father of modern Bhutan.” He wanted to erect a monument carrying the message of world peace and prosperity. However, he was unable to give shape to his idea in his lifetime due to the pressures of the state and other regal responsibilities. After his untimely demise in 1972, the Royal Family and Cabinet resolved to fulfill his wishes and erect a memorial that would perpetuate his memory and also serve as a monument to eternal peace, harmony, and tranquility.
- Overnight in Thimphu
- After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing. Buddha View Point: Another place from where you can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley is Buddha Point (KuenselPhodrang).
- Bhutan Post Office -The Postal Service in Bhutan was first launched on 10th October 1962 with the opening of a post office in Phuentsholing. In the same year, post offices were also opened in Paro and Thimphu.
- Traditional paper-making factory –You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha statue, the largest in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley and then visit the traditional paper-making factory. Afternoon Relax and walk around the Thimphu town by yourself to enjoy the city.
- Tashichho Dzong—The Tashichho Dzong is a Buddhist monastery cum fortress at the northern edge of Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan. The Dzong was built on the western bank of the river Wang Chu and has historically served at the seat of the DrukDesi or the Dharma Raja of Bhutan’s government. After the kings assumed power in 1907 this post was combined with that of the king and Thimphu severed as the summer capital of the kingdom before becoming the full-time capital of Bhutan.
- Simtokha Dzong–Simtokha Dzong also known as SangakZabdhon Phodrang is a small dzong. It was built in 1629 by ZhabdrungNgawangNamgyal, who unified Bhutan. It is the first of its kind built in Bhutan
- Overnight in Thimphu.
- After breakfast, we will start with the Thimphu local sightseeing.
- Visit Buddha Dordenma-The statue was made to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck while fulfilling two ancient prophecies from the 8th and 12th centuries which stated that a giant Buddha statue would be built in the region to bless the world with peace and happiness.
- Simply Bhutan- Museum resembling a Bhutanese village, featuring traditional cuisine, demonstrations & performances.
- Then visit the National Library which has a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts. After that drive to Painting School, famous for traditional thangkha paintings. Here you will see, students at work producing intricate designs on cloth. Also visit to the Traditional Medicine Institute is worthwhile where centuries-old healing arts are still practiced.
- Trashichho Dzong view- the beautiful medieval fortress/monastery which houses most of the Government’s office and King’s Throne room
- Late Afternoon, a drive to Punakha with a short stop at Dochula pass (3,050m) that heralds the most enchanting views of Bhutan.
- Overnight at Punakha
- After breakfast, we will visit the following places:
- The SangchhenDorjiLhuendrup nunnery was built as a Buddhist college for nuns and is located on a hilltop in Punakha Valley.
- The feeling at the nunnery is that of serene peace which can be attributed to the prime location on this hilltop with beautiful landscaping all around. One very distinct structure at the nunnery is the large, white-colored Stupa that is very similar in design to that of several other Stupas in Nepal.
- KhamsumYulleyNamgyalChörten
- KhamsumYulleyNamgyalChörten — chörten in the Punakha District, Bhutan. This chörten was built in 2004 by HM The Queen Mother, AshiTsheringYangdon Wangchuck, in Nyizergang — about a thirty-minute walk uphill from the footbridge in Yepaisa Village.
- Overnight in a hotel in Punakha
- A perfect getaway for nature and wildlife lovers, Phobjikha Valley in Bhutan is one of the most spectacular natural settings one may find in Bhutan. Located on the incline of Black Mountains Park, this bowl-shaped glacial valley is an important wildlife preserve land of the country as it sits on the edge of the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park.
- Arrive in Phobjikha the valley of Black Necked Cranes and rhododendron. Gangtey Gompa – The temple was built over the hilltop, headed by Gangtey Tulku the reincarnation of Pema Lingpa. The annual festival of Gangtey is performed in the temple courtyard every year. This is also the place for the black-necked crane festival held every year on 11-Nov, coinciding with His Majesty’s Fourth King’s Birthday. Black Necked Crane Information Centre- This place is run by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) and has an observation room with high-power telescopes and good scope for spotting the famous Black Necked Cranes that migrate to the region during winter. It also displays information about the history of the region.
- Overnight in Phobjikha, altitude 2900m
- Say good bye to the Phobjikha Valley, the entire stretch of drive will refresh your mind and give you second chance to enjoy the great mountain views of the Himalayas.
- Paro Airport Bird’s Eye View Point- The Paro international airport is among the top 10 most stunning and challenging airports in the world. The view point offers an exquisite view of the Paro valley.
- Rinpung Dzong- ‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels’, is ranked one of the best Bhutanese architecture. The massive buttressed walls that tower over the town are visible throughout the valley, particularly when landing at Paro Airport.
- The Dzong also offers an administrative seat in the district of Paro. The Dzong was built in 1644 under the order of ZhabdrungNgawangNamgyal. National Museum of Paro- Perched above Paro Dzong it was a watchtower built in 1649 to protect the undefended Paro Dzong located below, renovated in 1968 to house the National Museum. Today this museum houses the best collections of all-time historical items making it worth a visit.
- Overnight in Paro.
- Today take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, the most famous of Bhutanese monasteries. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery hence it is called “Tiger’s Nest”. The excursion to the monastery’s viewpoint takes about 5 hours for a round trip.

- Start the day early for a full-day excursion to Haa via Chele-la pass with packed or early breakfast.
- Visit Haa Dzong, Lhakhang Karpo, Lhakhang Nagpo, Wangchulo Dzong. Evening you drive back to Paro. Overnight at the hotel.
- Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
- In the morning, we will see you off at the Paro Airport for your onward destinations.
